Knowing How to Use a Fire Extinguisher
Fire extinguishers are the one thing you not only want to own but the one thing you will want to know how to use. Many people have co2 fire extinguishers for home and that is great, but when a fire breaks out they spend precious seconds trying to figure out how to actually operate the extinguisher. Take the time to look at the instructions on your fire extinguisher so that in an emergency it will be second nature. You don’t want a small controllable fire to become a raging inferno just because you didn’t take the time to read a few lines of instructions. In addition to learning how to use a fire extinguisher, you should also take a day every month and run through a mock fire drill with your family. Make sure children know how to get out of the house in case of a fire and where to wait for you. Choose a different type of fire in a different room each time so that there will be no surprises if the worst should happen. A few minutes of your time can mean the safety of your family – it is definitely worth the trade off.
