I need Meat!

March 29th, 2012 Comments off

Saturday night my husband and I went out for dinner.  It was his birthday so we went out to his favorite restaurant.  We had a lazy day, so dinner was our first actual meal of the day.  We were both very hungry, so I knew meat was on the menu.  Nothing satisfies us like great pieces of meat when we are famished.  I ordered a Rib Eye steak and he had Prime Rib.   Both of our meals came with mashed potatoes and corn.  Our food was so excellent and we ate it all.  We ended the meal by sharing a piece of homemade apple pie with ice cream.  We both were happy and full.

Sausage Trio, Mash and Cabbage with Onion Grav...

Sausage Trio, Mash and Cabbage with Onion Gravy. Nice and hearty on a cold Autumn day. I got the Moroccan, Lamb Spinach and Pinenut, and Chicken, asparagus and corn, sausages from David Jones Food Hall in Melbourne. They tasted quite good, but I remember them being more chunky and less processed. They are better quality than most "thin" sausages, higher meat content and less fatty. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Don’t Listen to the News, Judge by Your Life

March 26th, 2012 Comments off

If you listened to the news or any sort of media you would have an ever changing opinion about the current recession.  Some days the economy is totally in recovery by all reports and then the next day things are ambivalent at best.  Personally I feel that we are definitely not out of the current recession.  I say this based on what I see in the job market.  There really aren’t many jobs out there and the ones that are there aren’t paying anything like what they used to.  While many companies are making more money, regular folks aren’t getting better wages.  In addition, many companies are still on the verge of layoffs because their much of their funding comes from shrinking state and government budgets.  I fell like our economy is going to get much worse before it gets better.  I am very concerned that our leaders are still spending without any control and have no grip on reality when it comes to our economy.

Ground Hog Summer

March 23rd, 2012 Comments off

Today, and perhaps for the last week, I have been feeling like my days are all the same.  My life sort of feels like Bill Murray’s character in the movie Ground Hog Day.   I pretty much do the same thing every day:  wake up, go to work, and go to sleep. The weather has been really hot and humid, which makes me cranky and not wanting to do much in the little spare time that I have.  Today I feel tired and grumpy.  I didn’t sleep well because of the heat.  I am tired and don’t want to go to work.  I feel like I am just counting down the hours and minutes until I get out of work and get to the weekend.  I am looking forward to the fall, when everything cools off and people go about their regular routines.

Astoria Sector of New York City

March 19th, 2012 Comments off

Presently, I preside in the Astoria Sector of New York City. This is a nice place, near a 7-11 and a 24 hour hot dog shop, as well as many other nice food vendors, and a quick jaunt to “Little Egypt”, home of the world famous “Kebab Café”. One unfortunate thing is that, since I have lived in this area, I have, on most occasions, needed to walk past a local building known as the “Zodiac Lounge” which has been closed for renovations since moving there, and I fear I will never be able to look inside the place. Astoria is also a short walk from Roosevelt Island, a very unusual place, whereon I purchased that very German book from whence I learn the German language.

Bandying about

March 15th, 2012 Comments off

On this day I presented myself, bandying about and so in to the public, in a pair of blue “Crocs” that came as a free gift, in turn resultant from achieving an order of shipping materials in excess of 150 dollars, which took place at work. In addition, I wore a nice “Suspiria” t-shirt, which I received as a gift, some dark blue “Wilson” socks, also a gift, a pair of grayish-greenish shorts, also received as a gift, and a “Laibach” belt which necessitated importation from Slovenia in its obtainment. I suppose I should count the pens which are worn about my neck, these being a      Papermate fine tipped black marker and a Sheaffer Sentinel  of brushed aluminum shell.

Great deal of wealth

March 12th, 2012 Comments off

In the event that the possibility of owning anything arose then I would simply choose to own a great deal of wealth, preferably in the form of something very liquid, such as a high worth currency, like British pounds, or in gold. This wealth, of course, would not make me happy, but it would enable me to be happy, i.e. to achieve a variety of ends since, for whatever reason, most people think possession of wealth is the supreme import, and will do anything in exchange for a little bit of it. Thus, with great wealth in the form of gold or a strong currency, I would be endowed with means to enact many changes in the world itself, simply by shaping the actions of people who want a little bit of wealth, which I would then give them.

Honesty is a good thing

March 9th, 2012 Comments off

Honesty is a good thing, as well as the ability to recognize real shame inside one’s self. This means the recognition that one is motivated to act, not for a real reason, but for a fake one, manufactured by pride and vanity. Most persons act for pride and vanity, these actions gaining nothing, but merely do to avoid chastisement, perceived or real, from those things outside of themselves, and then they take steps to kill the shameful feeling that arises from the actions. Said persons are deemed, loosely and colloquially, as “insecure”. It follows then, that I like persons who are secure in themselves, animals too, such as my cat, which meows endlessly simply because it knows it can, and, thus, is secure in it.

It’s debatable

March 6th, 2012 Comments off

It’s debatable whether I have memories or no, since memories are active processes of restructuring data contained in one’s neural network and, because they are a process, am subject to the present state, i.e. the present process. It thus follows that “memories” are just a series of related things; loosely stored, and then re-collected in something we might call a coherent entity.  Hmm… I do recall, earlier today, whilst vacuuming, remembering how, in childhood, I owned a Hoover vacuum shaped as a flying saucer would be, that, instead of wheels, indeed levitated, as a flying saucer would. However, in the case of the Hoover, the levitation was brought about via a projection of air in the center of the bottom outwards, toward the floor. Overall, the levitating Hoover was of utmost quality.

Give me a nickel for every job I’ve had and I’d be poor

February 29th, 2012 Comments off

When it comes to jobs I haven had that many, I can count them with one hand and have three fingers left. I had a job taking care of kids in their summer vacations, which was quite stressful even if it was only playing around with kids all day long. After that I got he one I have right now, which I love, I’m nothing more that an assistance right now, but I’m the creative director’s assistance in an advertising agency, and as an advertising student I found the job, although boring sometimes, extremely enriching, I can honestly say I learn more there than during classes.

The city of everything

February 24th, 2012 Comments off

Can you guess which city I’m talking about? If I could go anywhere in the world on vacation I would go to New York, because to me that city represents true cultural diversity, there is nothing you can’t found there from entertainment to culture, it’s a city full of stories, some cliché, some completely outside the norm where you don’t know what to expect yet you can expect everything. New York is an adventure waiting to happen with everything the concrete jungle has to offer. The choice might not be the most original or exciting but to me it would be a dream came true.
