My trip through western ghat region in Southern India on my way to Kerala has been the most memorable trip for me. The hairpin turns along the mountains were so steep that it sent a chill up my spine. But the view of the luscious forests along the mountains, the river streams flowing by, the tantalizing waterfalls and the brief passages through tunnels made it worth it all. High up the mountain, I could actually see the clouds pass beneath me. The air smelled so fresh and the weather so perfect, I wished the trip would last for a lifetime.
Just yesterday, I got myself a new set of clothes to go along with the upcoming summer season. It includes everything from T-shirts, trousers, jeans, shorts etc. I really like my collection of T-shirts: not only are they 100% cotton, but also I got it at a really low price. It’s very comfortable and the slogans go very well with my attitude. My stone wash jeans are just awesome. It has already drawn attention among all my friends. My shorts are trendy and go well with most of my casual shirts. I have got myself geared up well for this summer.
I sat down to write about my inability to stop thinking at night when I should be attempting to rest. Lately life has been more stressful than usual but I have suffered from insomnia for over two decades. It seems that my mind never stops; I swear to you that it runs on Energizer batteries! It is like a brain possessed. All night long I will try to sleep but I am only just barely dozing with a thin veil separating me from being fully awake. I can remember repeating sentences in my head repetitively all night long while attempting to get some much needed rest. It is disheartening, tiring and absolutely a hair pulling experience to be awake while everyone else in the house is sleeping the sleep of the dead. I am the one who gets to feel like the living dead. Enough is enough; I have to find a cure for this condition.
The last book I read was very recent. It was a relatively old book but was reproduced in a trilogy. The book was by author Dave Pelzer. It was an incredibly inspirational story of triumph against all odds. This book was titled “My Story” and contained three mini stories of the author’s life. The first was “A Child Called It”, the second “The Lost Boy, and the conclusion was “A Man Named Dave. This story was about one of the ugliest stories of child abuse on record. It was a heart wrenching account of abuse committed by the nurturer, the mother of the abused child. The abuse was psychological and physical and was used to systematically attempt to make this child feel that “he” did not exist. That he was only an “IT”. I came away awestruck by the power of the human spirit to triumph over evil that men perpetrate against others.
Eating many types of cuisine is one of my favorite pastimes. I absolutely adore food! Mexican is probably my favorite because I really love spicy, hot foods. I love the friendliness of the people in authentic Mexican restaurants and their love of small children. I love the wonderful appreciation they have for a chilled draft beer or a Margarita and the fact that they never short you on the alcohol. I also love Italian cooking. I love the sauces and the spices and their true love of food. The cheeses and breads and the dipping oils are aromatic and spiced with zest. The history of the Italian people make you want to stomp grapes or just get plain drunk while indulging in wonderful pastas and wine.
My daily schedule is not written in stone. I work at home writing for the most part so it is possible for me to be flexible with my time. However, I still attempt to adhere to a particular methodical approach to most days. I usually begin my day at about 7 AM. I start the day with a cola as I don’t drink coffee. It has to have ice also, no matter how cold outside. I usually being with checking my email messages for business reasons and then I begin my work. My method is to work at my actual job for a period of time, then to work on my household chores and errands by mid day. That enables me to return in the afternoon or early evening or even late evening to pick up on the work I have left to finish for the day. I usually end my day by winding down on a social site, watching news, and then I am ready for sweet dreams.
If I got the opportunity to meet anyone in the world (living or dead) I would choose Mother Theresa. I have consistently stated that I would choose this person, this Saint to meet. The reason I would love to meet her is to get a moment to glimpse into the mind and life of someone who devoted herself entirely to others. She was a virtual martyr for others who were suffering. This is a person who lived an entire life without modern conveniences and material possessions that society seems to place so much importance upon. Mother Theresa was a humble person that could speak so plainly yet so elegantly in the same breath. An enigma. I would like to probe the essence of the person to see what really separates the Saints from the Sinners.
My longest job was working at a window company as a lead person. I absolutely loved the hustle and bustle, the responsibility, and the fact that I had job security. This job was a good one for me because I am a natural leader, with a mindset for managerial positions. I loved the combination of physicality and mental aptitude that was required for this position. I liked the fact that I could work side by side with fellow employees and yet still have a higher degree of responsibility and a broad learning experience as a lead person also.
